The National Basketball Wives Association:
Shining a beacon of hope for women around the world

Support & Inspire

Leaders set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create a plan to achieve it. The Board of Directors at the NBWA is composed of a group of exceptionally intelligent and experienced women. These women have dedicated all or part of their lives to philanthropic causes, and aim to use their knowledge and capital resources to light our path and lead the way.

Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team; it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring. Empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors is essential to building stronger economies, achieving internationally agreed goals for development and sustainability, and improving the quality of life for women, men, and families everywhere.

That’s why we have made it our mission to not only uplift the women in our organization, but also teach them why their role is vital to the improvement of their communities. We strive to provide a rich environment of education, support, and guidance.

“We’re here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.”

–Whoopi Goldberg

When women adopt leadership roles, they contribute a unique set of skills, ideas, and life experiences that can broaden the entire company’s insight, strategies, and bottom line. On average, Fortune 500 companies with more female board representation achieved a significantly higher financial performance than those with fewer female representatives.

From Our President

Dear Members & Supporters,

Welcome to the National Basketball Wives Association Incorporated, (NBWA). On behalf of NBWA, I’d like to sincerely thank you for your constituency and belief in our organization’s vision and mission. Inspired by the historical philanthropy by wives of professional athletes across the nation, the National Basketball Wives Association embarks on its journey to being the official charitable non-profit corporation representative of its membership, the NBA, Harlem Globetrotters and other professional basketball families, to combine our philanthropic capital causing an impact nationally and globally.

Our members are a diverse group of esteemed business professionals, educated scholars, Entrepreneurs, and most notable C.O.E.’s (Chief Officer of Everything)! We recognize the influence and power our membership embodies, and with the NBWA mission at our helm, we look forward to pouring our resources and efforts into underserved communities to improve the life chances for other families, especially women and children. Our Professional Advisory Board consists of leaders in the field of business, law, sports, education and public health that actively sustain our charitable compass.

We are also an organization that provides its members with a built-in network of women that have successfully navigated the NBA lifestyle, one that is a world of its own. We are a safe-haven for member support during the many life changes that a professional athlete’s career brings about for his family. We openly share with our members the necessary tools and referrals that provide smooth transitions for an ever-changing way of life.

With the support of our members, corporate and community partners, NBWA sets out to create waves of impactful change for our members and our global initiatives. The NBWA will be the entity inspiring future generations to leave their philanthropic footprint on the world. We encourage you to join our team and become a member of NBWA, or offer your support as a corporate and community partner, working in harmony to enrich the quality of lives of families in our community.

With Respect & Gratitude,

Mia Wright
